Dental Implants
The fear of losing our teeth is something many of us experience - but now thanks to Dental Implants, lost teeth no longer have to be a permanent problem. If you’re already embarrassed about missing teeth or dentures that don’t fit properly….if you can’t eat the things you want to….you really should consider dental implants. Whilst ordinary dentures are still a common solution to missing teeth, implants and implant fixed dentures have passed them by as the optimum form of treatment.
It’s easy to see why.
Crowns, bridges or dentures attached to an implant simply don’t slip out of place and you can have absolute confidence when talking, laughing or even biting into a crisp apple or juicy steak!
You’ll soon forget that you have an implant because your crown, bridge or denture will feel exactly the same as your natural teeth.
They’re also extremely tough and will last you a lifetime if you brush and floss them in the same way as your normal teeth – no more need to take anything out every night! And no matter what foods you bite into, they can cope!
Why not call in for an informal, completely FREE “Am I suitable for Dental Implants” appointment with our Smile Adviser. She’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding implants. Dental implants have the strength of natural teeth and can last a lifetime if you look after them properly. They let you bite, chew, talk and smile without worrying. They also encourage bone growth and density, protecting the structure of your face.
Although dental implants initially cost more than some other options, their strength and longevity means that they are really a cost effective solution in the long-term. Here at Adelphi Dental Care, we offer a number of different finance options to make dental implants an affordable option for you.
How do dental implants work?
A dental implant is a tapered or cylindrical post made of titanium that is surgically placed in your jawbone to act as an artificial root. Over time, the surrounding jawbone fuses to the implant, anchoring it in place and giving it the same strength as a natural tooth. Once we’re happy that the implant has bonded, we then add a small connector called an abutment to the top of the implant. This abutment sits on the gum line and gives us a secure base on which to connect your replacement tooth or teeth. With dental implants, it’s possible to replace a single tooth or to use an implant-supported bridge or implant-retained dentures containing multiple teeth. By the end of your treatment, no one will be able to spot that you’ve had restorations.
What’s next?
The first step is to decide whether you are suitable for dental implants. Most people are but we will need to look at your overall dental health and also check whether you have enough jaw bone to successfully embed an implant. If you don’t, you may need a bone graft before implants can be fitted but this is something we can talk through with you and it certainly doesn’t apply to every case.

For years, I have had a brown mark on one of my front teeth due to damaged enamel. People would often comment that I had food in my teeth, which made me incredibly self-conscious. Now I have a veneer on that tooth, I am so much more relaxed about smiling.
